Supply Chain Product Ecosystems Create Strategic Advantage

Increase component re-use across multiple products and design locations to leverage volume based prices. Optimise the vendor base, by creating simple to search qualified devices libraries from the vendors you choose. Delegate the maintenance of specifications in the qualified device library to your suppliers. Allow selected suppliers to highlight the latest products and technologies directly to your design teams. Enable suppliers to securely collaborate on product information from a web connected computer anywhere.  Deploy quickly and easily using a unique, simple-to-usedrag and drop interface. Create, manage, share, search, publish and retrieve product information from your supply chain in a simple, scalable and distributed manner.

Web-based Approved Vendor Lists (AVL)

Many companies spend a lot of time and effort qualifying a vendor, only to find that the vendor cannot be found by another part of the organization. Traditional tools do not expose vendors or vendors’ products to the broader organisation and hinder the effectiveness of supply chain optimisation processes. Using web based tools, it is possible to harness the power of the internet to manage a supplier’s AVL, to ensure an AVL is relevant to the different users in the organisation and to ensure that the AVL is used within the organisation. ProductWorld also enables you to bring the approved vendors’ products online in a manner which drives real value for you and your suppliers. Suppliers can link relevant products to other suppliers’ products to create usable solutions, making it easier for your organisations’ design teams to adopt the products and services provided from within the approved vendors’ product base.

Searchable Qualified Device Libraries

ProductWorld enables procurement teams to create a simple to use and highly searchable qualified device library reducing the incidence of duplicate qualified devices and suppliers. Design engineers can use the device library to research, compare and select products. ProductWorld uses facet browsing and the semantic web as the basis for its search and product ecosystem technology. Facet browsing is a website information retrieval and selection technique, which uses an item’s features and attributes to present search options. The technique works by enabling users to browse product information by continuously narrowing the scope of their search to the most relevant features. By using facet browsing, ProductWorld facilitates a richer and more valuable product search experience. It reduces the incidence of too many items found or the dead-end result of no items found.

Virtual Bill of Materials (BOM)

A unique feature of ProductWorld is the ability for users of the system to save selected products and product information from approved vendors into a virtual BOM. Multiple BOMs can be created by users of the approved vendors’ qualified device library. Virtual BOMs can be exported to an Excel file or other formats to form the basis of the ERP BOM.
